When demoing WW, I use it as an assembly table and as a seat for visitors to use. It looks period to what I am doing, but it is actually, my drink and food cooler, its lined with rebated 2 inch scrap styrofoam.

Jr.,

I seem to recall a paneled chest that you showed a few years ago. It was a gift maybe, perhaps a wedding gift. Can't quite pull it up. But I liked it a lot--was made of two kinds of wood, oak and a needle wood. Similar in overall style to this one.

Yes, Wiley, it was a wedding chest for a friends daughters wedding. it was salvaged oak frame and spalted hemlock fir, with danish oil finish.

Carvers tool box, made from 100 year old salvaged old growth clear pine. Not a nail or screw in it. It absorbed a quart of danish oil before it was over. Oh yes, its part of 400+ bdft of 14 and 16 foot 10 and 12 inch shelving from an old clothing stores basement display shelves I got for removing it.

PostPosted: Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:36 pm    Post subject: New Mini Cooler Reply with quote

I have needed a period looking Mini Cooler for some time now to replace the larger one that is too heavy for me to handle anymore.

Its made out of salvaged lumber and I have been working on it for some time while I have been out doing my twice a year limit of demonstrating, so the dovetails are nowhere near as good as they would have been doing them in my basement shop with no crowd around watching and asking questions and asking to help, etc. This one is tall enough to store a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi and just in time for the demo at the Big Woodworking Show in KC as part of the Guilds presence. It also serves as an extra stool too. Its about 10 by 13 inside before the 7/8" styrofoam was added.

Nothing stands out as bad as a modern plastic cooler among a setting of antiques, demonstrator included. LOL
